Wild Idea – More to Love

The best part about being CEO of Wild Idea Buffalo is the adoring fans. To be clear, not fans of me, but of the company. I get such joy from reading consumer comments on our web site, in e-mails, and our Facebook page about how much they love the way we raise our buffalo and how great it tastes. Here are a couple favorites from the past week:

“I received my box of pure and delicious Buffalo. I cooked two ribeyes. All I can say is this is the best meat I have ever tasted. I will order every month.”

“Just had your Top Sirloin Buffalo Steak – 5 Stars! Tender with fantastic flavor.”

However, there are two things that consumers have made clear to me in my 21 months with the company that they do not love: the shipping prices and the order process on our web site. For those of you who have commented on either of those things (or at least thought those things), you are in luck!

About three weeks ago we launched a new web store that features among other things (drum roll, please)…..flat rate shipping! To be honest, on our old site, I personally never knew how much an order was going to cost to ship, and I run the company. With our new flat rate shipping, you pay the same rate whether you are buying 2 steaks or a quarter buffalo. If you live within a 2-state radius of South Dakota your shipping is $19 and if you live further away, your shipping price is $29 (see web site shipping information for exact shipping price list by states: http://buy.wildideabuffalo.com/pages/shipping-information). Then for an extra $20 you can request next day shipping for rush orders – otherwise, we will find the best method for shipping your meat to you that ensures quality delivery. It is that sample!

When we were kicking around our flat rate shipping idea and talking with some consumers about it, we were asked about free shipping. To make that work even with pretty substantial discounts we receive from FedEx and UPS, we would have to make significant increases in meat prices, cut significant corners in how we produce our meat (which we would never do), or we would go out of business very quickly. Just as there is no such thing as a free lunch, there is no such thing as true free shipping. As a team, we looked at a bunch of scenarios and felt the plan we devised did the best job of balancing our customers’ shipping needs and significantly simplifying things.

At the same time, we streamlined the shopping and ordering process on our web store. We heard our customers’ comments about needing an easier way to find favorite items, how they wished they could see pictures of the products they are buying, and they wanted to get through the check-out process easier and more quickly. I believe we accomplished an improved experience for consumers on all of those fronts. But don’t take my word for it, please go see for yourself. Visit our new on-line store, buy.wildideabuffalo.com/, and let us know what you think. If you have any questions/comments about our new shipping rates or the new web store, please do not hesitate to contact me at josh@wildideabuffalo, or through the web site. Happy shopping and happy shipping!

We just placed our first order since the new storefront was up and give it a thumbs up. We appreciate the ability to log in to a user profile to expedite order placement, rather than re-entering each time we visit. The flat-rate shipping is appreciated, as well.

A friend of mind gave me this website. I said to myself, let me try it out. I place an order for the Buffalo Starter Kit and boy, I’m very please. It’s delicious!!

I really appreciate the flat rate shipping. Have been a customer for years and as long as you are selling, I am buying. Current favorite are the ribeyes!
    thank you
