In 5 days my little girl will become Mrs. Colton Jones

Months ago, Jilian came to us and asked if we would both give her away. Although we were both touched, I declined. “It would make me so happy and proud to watch you and Dan walk down the aisle”, I said.

Dan has been a part of Jilians’ life for the past 14 years. Since they first met, his world would stop for hers. I know few fathers that are as attentive, loving and giving. He has been a wonderful father figure in all aspects, and has earned the right of walking his little girl down the aisle.

The emotions are building, and in between final ranch beautification projects we take timeouts and have “tears of joy” sessions, in hopes to get it all out before the big day.  Wish us luck on that one.

The wedding dinner preparation has begun, and after preparing this month’s recipe this morning at 8:00am, I officially closed the kitchen. We have a delicious menu planed, leaving no time for “normal” cooking.

    Jill,
I have only met you briefly, your neighbor to the east. Tim and I are living in Wisconsin, spending precious time with our parents. I can’t think of a more wonderful spot for a wedding than the Cheyenne River Valley and your place is so lovely! Tim and I will celebrate our 33rd anniversary on June 9th, so a special day for us as well. We will be coming out to spend a time at our beloved land next week, can’t wait for the peace and spirit we always find there.

    Hi Jill,

Being a wonderful father of three grown up girls myself, I was deeply touched by your gift of letting Dan walk your daughter down the aisle with Colton.

Dan’s gift of being a good and trustworthy father to Jillian will in the long run give her the strength and love to get through the hard spots of married life with love and kindness.

I think that all of you are the very salt of the earth, and I love you all very dearly. I hope some day to be able to stop by on a trip and get to meet all of you. I put Jilian and Colton in my golden heart, and in the arms of God. May they have a lifetime of living as worthy a life as you and Dan are living.

May you all have God’s blessings forever.
    May the blessings be.
    Love, Don

Jill, congrats and prayers for the newly married couple along with you and Jillian’s “Dad”.

June 9th is also our anniversary. Best wishes for them to be happily married and together as long as we have been. 39 yrs this year…. I think that is a magical date for people in love!

Menu looked absolutely wonderful! Please write about the day, when you can!

Jill: Good for you for your position on this ! I have been through thus with several of my kids and their stepmother who unfortunately did not do what you did and it created a series of issues for some “significant others” in the audience and hurt feelings for my wife at the time. I also blame myself for insisting that she participate with me in this or I would not. All this became the topic for some interesting but not particularly useful therapy sessions for the two of us. I would bet a book by you on your life befor and after Dan would be most interesting- one without any recipes-sic!

    Dear Jill,

What a wonderful celebration the “wedding weekend” was – just the right mix of fun and elegance. The wedding was so moving – and the bride and groom so beautiful and handsome ( as were you and Dan) – it just made for a very special event. To say the food was fantastic is indeed an understatement; it was spectacular. The design and decor, the lighting and music made for a most charming atmospere – a combination of elegance and nostalgia. The amount of work it took, to “make it happen” – well, let’s just say you need to go get fitted for your “Wonder Woman” outfit, as soon as you feel up to it. You did an amazing job and you are an amazing woman and I am so proud of you.

    I love you,
    Mom

All your “Wonderful Ideas” came to fruition over the past weekend. I was also an eye witness and thankful guest at the wedding. So many small details made the wedding ulta-special. It was magical.
I’m hungry thinking about that fabulous entree.
Love to all on the ranch.
    Maria

    Mom –
Thank you for all your hard work! Colton & I both know that without you and your efforts the wedding would not have been possible nor would it have felt so magical. We both love you with all of our hearts!
    Your children, Jilian & Colton
