By the date of this newsletter (I have a hard time keeping track myself), you can tell that writing is not something that I have had time for. My free moments are committed to running bird dogs, who along with me, anxiously await opening grouse season. So, this month I leave you with a quote from Jack London and an introduction to our new employee at Wild Idea. Justin, we are glad to have you on board!

Meet Justin Fulton:
Justin Fulton: Another family member has joined the Wild Idea team, nephew Justin.
Justin spent his early childhood years in South Dakota, before his family moved to the greater Pheonix AZ area. With his father being a golf pro and his mother a restaurateur, Justin was always being exposed to good food. Escapes from city life started early on with the introduction to fishing and hunting. It didn’t take long for him to realize that he was hooked on nature. Justin has spent the last 10 years in business management. But ever since he has been an adult he has been trying to find a way to back to SD.
With the new growth of Wild Idea, we started looking for someone who had a background in management, was passionate about the outdoors and had knowledge of meats. A tall order to fill, but then it hit us, we actually knew the perfect candidate. Justin and his family (wife Kelly & sons Dylan & Daniel) made the move to join Wild Idea Buffalo Co. Justin recently completed his HACCP (meat safety) certification. Although he will be working in all areas of the company, his focus will be in managing our new meat cutting plant and he will also be working closely with Sustainable Harvest Alliance. With his business management background, learned skills and greater environmental passions we are certain he will be an excellent asset to WIB.
Justin is an enrolled member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux tribe, and states “I’m very happy to be back home”.

I have had the quote by Jack London on my frig. for at least 20 years. I first saw it by the front door of “Wolf House”, his home that was burned in northern California. I think it says it all,and I was delighted to see it quoted in your wonderful notes.
Congratulations Justin! Dan, have you considered offering any internships for local students? I am reminded of the new University at Crazy Horse Monument. Watch the September newsletter video – very moving!

Have you ever read Martin Eden? I feel it was his best work. Unheard of when I read it (1973) now a high school summer reading. Go figure. About the Grouse, with a Falcon I hope!
Hi Grant – Not yet, but soon. We are building a “cut and wrap or meat cutting facility” ourselves. Buffalo will still be field harvested, and then taken to WIB plant for processing. So – yes, you will be able to order custom cuts. You can now, but with a few limitations. Hope all is well on the east coast.
Oma – We do have a summer internship. Applications can be sent to Wild Idea.
